Who are we?

On a predictable day, I‘m a casual chicstress. Staples like white tops, jeans and LBDs have found a happy home in my closet.

When in doubt, I pop neutral colours – black and white know me by name. I’m that girl with the same top in three colours – goes a long way. Far as accessories go, I‘m no miser; I pile them on like it’s going out of fashion.

Layering is one great way to fuel the rumour that one ‘has clothes’. If I ever need a personal shopper to hunt for bargains, I’m my girl. Two things: 1, you’re never overdressed and 2, always keep a boot full of hot heels!

If it’s loud, bold and comfy, I am definitely buying it. I love my dresses. Seriously, give me dresses and skirts any day and I’m a happy girly.

My style is feisty, yet comfortable and definitely mine. I buy things that are on trend but mix and match them according to my mood.

When it comes to my high heels, the higher the heel the better. My heels have to make a statement, as do my jeans. Well, all my clothes really – they have to speak to me. I don’t care for designer labels. I know I can rock any outfit because I’ll give it my flavour.

We love bold lipsticks

When it comes to make-up, nothing rivals the power of a bold lip. Gorgeous lips elevate your outfit, and make a statement. Phathu and I both love bold lipsticks.

As you can see my go-to colour is a fierce red lippie from Yardley while hers is a deep purple from Revlon  Ladies, what’s your go-to lippie?

Be bold and visible – Red My Lips

Throughout April we’ll be wearing our favorite red lipsticks. It’s not just because it looks great and we love it.

We’re helping to raise awareness about sexual abuse and to encourage speaking out against victim blaming.

It’s a cause we both believe in, and we hope we some day build a society where we’ll no longer be afraid to speak out. May we be as bold and visible as red lips.

Inside The Closet: Mili

Screen Shot 2015-02-19 at 3.01.07 PM

Mili’s bubbly persona matches her ever-evolving fashion sense, which she constantly uses a way of self-expression. A girl whose bright makeup bag is her best friend. You won’t catch her looking drab; she’d rather arrive fashionably late, which in itself is no crime really.

What’s your signature style?

It’s comfy, edgy and sometimes funky. I follow trends but I also mix and match my own clothes and come up with outfits that are ‘me’, feminine and show off my best assets.

Who’s your style icon?

My late aunt, who was forever stylish, a ‘10’ as Phathu and I would say. She’d rock anything from a flowy maxi dress to skinny jeans with a crisp white shirt. Her taste was timeless – most of my style is what she wore. She silently taught me that a woman could wear anything and just be awesome.

Fave item of clothes:

Generally, I’d pick a dress, but I’m crazy about a stunning black lace detail jumpsuit, which I bought last year. It’s sexy, trendy and exquisitely feminine.

What trend have you been meaning to try?

I’ve been meaning to try the sports-luxe trend with sneakers. The problem is I can’t function in flats; I’d need a great pair of sneakers to persuade me.

Which beauty products can’t you live without?

It’s Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse for keeping me flawless. I’m also a fan of Rimmel mascara, which pumps up my lashes. My Yardley matte red lipstick offers long-lasting wear – love it!

Elegance at the launch of Fashion Friends

Saturday evening we dazzled at the Foschini Fashion Friends at the Sandton store. We both went for elegant dresses.

Phathu wore a Craig Jacobs aqua ‘Leah’ dress with a lime strap. She rocked white jewellery and heels for an unpredictable finish. An African map ring and studs matching the dress were a great finishing touch you’d notice at close range.

Mili went in her black maxi dress with a flirty slit. She paired it with a gold neckpiece, studs, gold plated belt and nude heels. She also added a red clutch for that pop of colour.

The evening was a ball – we had a moment on the mic introducing ourselves to the guests and we shopped up a mini storm. Each girl chose a pair of jeans that could rip, or not. Phathu went with white jeans and didn’t rip them. Mili went with navy and chose to rip them. A week later you bet we’ve both worn our jeans – hahaha!

It was an exciting night of fashion, not forgetting the awesome goodie bag filled with stylish tid-bits.

Fashion Friday

The denim shirt is a classic, versatile wardrobe staple that can be worn with a variety of bottoms. We both stepped out in ensembles that included a denim shirt (we promise it’s a coincidence)

Mili went for a funky look, pairing her light wash denim shirt over a printed skater dress with yellow box heels and a chunky necklace.

Phathu, on the other hand, went for corporate chic, she wore her dark wash denim shirt with a printed skater skirt. She stacked up with bold gold and black accessories to give the look an edge.
